Embedded Systems Test/QA Lead

Detailed Description: We are seeking an experienced Embedded Systems Test/QA Lead to oversee and manage the testing activities for embedded systems projects. The Embedded Systems Test/QA Lead will be responsible for leading a team of test engineers, developing test strategies, defining test plans, executing testing activities, and ensuring the quality and reliability of embedded software and hardware solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in embedded systems testing and quality assurance, along with proven leadership skills to guide and mentor a team of test engineers. As an Embedded Systems Test/QA Lead, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish testing processes, standards, and best practices, and drive continuous improvement in testing methodologies and techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Test Strategy and Planning:
   • Develop test strategies, methodologies, and approaches for embedded systems testing, considering project requirements, risks, and constraints.
   • Define test objectives, scope, and criteria for test coverage, including functional, non-functional, and regression testing.
2. Team Leadership and Management:
   • Lead and manage a team of embedded systems test engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure project success.
   • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture, encouraging creativity, innovation, and continuous learning.
3. Test Execution and Reporting:
   • Oversee the execution of testing activities, including unit tests, integration tests, system tests, and acceptance tests, following established test plans and procedures.
   • Monitor test progress, analyze test results, and report findings to stakeholders through detailed reports, dashboards, and metrics.
4. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
   • Ensure adherence to quality standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements for embedded systems testing, including ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or DO-178C.
   • Conduct quality assurance reviews, inspections, and audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
5. Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:
   • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, firmware engineers, and hardware designers, to understand system architecture, requirements, and design implications for testing.
   • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing processes, tools, and methodologies, and promote a culture of quality and excellence within the organization.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in embedded systems testing, software quality assurance, or related roles.
• Proven leadership and management skills, with experience leading teams of test engineers in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture, software/hardware interfaces, and communication protocols.
• Proficiency in test automation tools and frameworks, such as Python, Selenium, Robot Framework, or similar.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, simulation tools, and virtual environments for embedded systems testing.
• Knowledge of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and tools, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Travis CI.
• Certification in software testing (ISTQB), test automation (CTFL-AT), or project management (PMP) is a plus.
