Software Engineer - IoT Systems

Detailed Description: We are seeking a talented and experienced Software Engineer specializing in IoT Systems to join our dynamic team. The Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. This includes developing firmware for IoT devices, integrating with cloud platforms, and ensuring robust and secure communication between devices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in embedded systems, IoT protocols, and software development, as well as experience in working with various IoT platforms and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Software Design and Development:
    • Design and develop software for IoT devices, including firmware, device drivers, and application software.
    • Implement and maintain communication protocols for IoT devices, ensuring reliable and secure data exchange.
  2. Integration with Cloud Platforms:
    • Integrate IoT devices with cloud platforms, ensuring seamless data transmission and real-time data processing.
    • Develop and maintain APIs and services for cloud integration, enabling remote device management and data analytics.
  3. Testing and Validation:
    • Conduct thorough testing and validation of IoT software, including unit tests, integration tests, and system tests.
    • Ensure software quality and reliability by implementing automated testing frameworks and continuous integration practices.
  4. Security and Compliance:
    • Implement security measures to protect IoT devices and data, including encryption, authentication, and access control.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations for IoT systems, such as GDPR, HIPAA, or NIST guidelines.
  5. Collaboration and Documentation:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, product managers, and data scientists, to develop comprehensive IoT solutions.
    • Create and maintain detailed documentation for software designs, APIs, protocols, and testing procedures.


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on IoT systems or embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Strong understanding of IoT communication protocols (MQTT, CoAP, HTTP) and networking principles.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, Google Cloud IoT) and cloud integration.
  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS), embedded Linux, or microcontroller programming.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with edge computing, data analytics, and machine learning for IoT applications.
  • Knowledge of hardware design and interfacing for IoT devices, including sensors, actuators, and wireless communication modules.
  • Familiarity with IoT security best practices and frameworks, such as IoT Security Foundation guidelines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
